Supporting a Well-Managed and Sustainable Fishery
The American eel fishery is carefully managed in both the U.S. and Canada. State, provincial and federal governments promote sustainability by imposing a variety of conservation measures on the independent, licensed fishermen who catch eels along the North American coast. These include size limits, fishing seasons, regional closures, gear restrictions and harvest quotas.
As recently as October 2015, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service concluded, “the eel’s single population is overall stable and not in danger of extinction or likely to become endangered within the foreseeable future.”
At Delaware Valley Fish Company, you have our commitment:
- Our eel come from nature, not farms.
- Our eel is taken from a well-managed, sustainable fishery.
- Our eel is sourced through generations of independent fishing families.
